Skin and Hair Routine.....Round Six :)

Hey! It's Amanda. I know....I'm posting two days in row....shocking, right? Well, I decided it was high time I posted my hair and skin routine as well.

Let's start with hair. I have to admit, I don't actually do a whole lot with my hair. It just kind of.....is. :P

I wash my hair every day, so I make sure to use a moisturizing shampoo and a good conditioner so that it doesn't get too dry. I use Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo and either Paul Mitchell The Detangler conditioner or AVEDA Pure Abundance Conditioner most days. And since I have highlights, I use Biolage by Matrix Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner every couple days. (I forgot to take a picture, but you can see them here.)

After I wash it I gently squeeze the excess water out with a towel and then use a wide tooth comb to get out most of the tangles. My hair tends to break pretty easily, so I have to be pretty gentle with it. Then I use a brush to smooth out the rest. If my hair seems bushy, I put in AVEDA Light Elements smoother. This can make it too limp and greasy though, so I try not to use it too much. Sometimes I blowdry and straighten, but honestly I usually just leave it alone.

This is what it looks like if I let it dry naturally and maybe use the smoother.

And this is what it looks like if I blowdry and straighten a little bit.

Now for skin. My skin routine isn't super complicated either. In the morning I use Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub. It smells amaaaazing and wakes up my skin. It also dries it out though, so immediately afterwards I make sure to moisturize with MAC Studio Moisture Fix Lotion. I looove this lotion. It's not greasy but it really hydrates my skin. I would highly recommend it. And then I'm ready for makeup.....but that's another post.

At night, I first remove any makeup. I usually use Almay Oil-Free eye makeup remover, although I just bought e.l.f. Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths and they work great.

Then I wash my face using Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Cream Cleanser. It's gentler than the scrub but clears the skin and any redness or irritation. Sometimes I also use the Triple-Action Toner, but it tends to really dry out my skin so I only use it every other day or so. Then I use Mary Kay's Formula 2 Balancing Moisturizer all over my face and the MAC Moisturizer again in the dryer spots. And I use Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel on any blemishes. I would really recommend this over some other brands, like Clearasil, because it works great and isn't super drying. Then I use my finger to swipe some Vaseline across my eyelashes and I'm done.

I also try to use a mask every few days, usually Mary Kay's Formula 2 Revitalizing Mask. And I use Burt's Bees Lip Balm ALL the time. Also, if your lips get really dry like mine (another thing I hate about braces), try Mary Kay's Satin Lips routine.

Well, that's it! Not super complicated. Let me know if you have any advice or want to tell me that I'm totally using all the wrong products. :P And if you're interested maybe I'll do a daily makeup routine post at some point. :)
