Red Shoes and A Super Simple Hair-Cheat Tutorial

Emilyann here :)

So they're not particularly new.  Nor do they make me blue.  But they said red shoes, and therefore, qualified.  I *will* do anything to get a She & Him song in my post, thank you very much.

Today was church.... Early service.  And *yes* I was almost late.  But 7:45?  Seriously?  I'm not exactly a morning person.  I need to get back to exercising so I told myself I'd squeeze it in in the mornings, and just getting up at 7 this morning killed me.  I may have to rethink what time I want to work out during the week.

Anyway, this is what I wore...

 Shirt -  Mudd from Kohl's
Skirt - TJ Maxx
Necklace - Mudd from Kohl's
Shoes - Marshall's
Bag - Rue 21

As you know from my last post, I'm wearing my "second day" hairstyle.  It looks like a spent a whole lotta time on it, right?  Wrong.  It took me three minutes.  Wanna know my secrets?  Of course you do.

I started out with my hair straight, because of my Every Other Day Hair Routine, but you can do this with wavy hair if you like.  Curly won't work.

  • Set your straightener at your personal heat preference and, while brushing to untangle any knots, spray your hair with heat protectant. I cannot stress the importance of this step, to keep your hair healthy and non-burned.
  • You can do this with any type of part.  I usually choose a deep side part.  Once your hair is parted, using your fingers, or a rat tail comb, split your hair in the back and pull it forward so that it is in front of your shoulders.
  • Take your bangs, or the hair closest to the top of your head. and straighten them three quarters of the way down, once you're near the last fourth of your bangs, pull the straightener into a 180 degree twist, so that it's pulling the hair away from your face.

Once you're finished, it should look like this:

  • This is the primary motion in this hair tutorial.  After you've finished your bangs, you've done the hardest part.  Now take the hair directly underneath your bangs, and do the exact same thing:  Taking the straightening iron and pulling it 180 away from your face.

  • Continue doing this all the way down your layers.

  • Now begin doing the same thing on the other side of your part.

  • Once you're finished, once again make sure that all of your hair was pulled forward.  You can touch up the tips by making mini curls at the bottom of the straight bits.
  • Take hairspray and spray downward. If you choose a deep part, spray directly on the part and use a comb to position your roots.
  • Fluff with your fingers to make the curls lighter and airier.

This hairstyle provides curls without too much trouble.  It creates an illusion of your entire head being in waves, when really, only the front pieces are!

Enjoy, ladies.  :)
