I see London, I see France.... wait. No.

Last weekend, my parents took a trip to London!  It was a glorious time, but I have to say, half the fun was getting dressed to go out!!  Here are a couple of my outfits from our mini vacation.

This outfit was inspired by Kendi (my favorite fashion blogger).  She wore this very same dress in this same way, but with a different top.  I even tricked my own mom into thinking this was a high-waisted skirt, when in reality, it's a dress and a top pinned very carefully to the bodice.

Dress: shopruche.com
Shirt: Ross
Shoes: Target
Sunglasses: Random store I can't remember
Purse: A cute shop in Italy
Belt: H&M

Chillin' with some chums.

Top: H&M
Skirt: Piazza Italia
Scarf: A store called Tequila (and I promise, no alcohol was being sold/served there.  Promise.)
Shoes: Target

And what's that in my hand?  A TOPSHOP bag.  I'm sure what I bought will be showing up in a later outfit post.  :)  I'm thrilled to bits.

Foundation: BB Cream
Blush: Mary Kay "Shy Blush"
Bronzer: Urban Decay Baked
Lipstick: Maybelline "Pink and Proper"
Mascara (even though you can't see it): CoverGirl Lash Blast

For my hair, I did the top half section in a fat twist, and then I fishtail braided the bottom half section off to one side.  I pinned back my bangs because of the wind, and you can also see that the wind mussed the back a bit.  But to be honest, I like it that way.  :)

I only have one decent photo of this one...

Shoes: Target
Dress: H&M
Belt: H&M
Coat: London Fog
Earrings: Icing
Swing Sweater: Target

Dress: Sears

I wore this dress out to go see Billy Elliot at the theatre.  It was such a fun night!  I wore a pair of nude heels and my London Fog coat with it, but neglected to photograph it.  As you can see, throughout the whole trip, I maintained a 60's-ish vibe... this is something I've been very into lately, and I think you'll notice it in upcoming OOTDs.

Have a great day, everyone!

Wit Beyond Measure Is A Man's Greatest Treasure.

So a bunch of us girls on Dressing Room Door are absolutely obsessed with Harry Potter.  Ehem.  Me being one of them.  Here's a Ravenclaw makeup tutorial for you, I hope you enjoy.  :)

Start with a fresh face.  Conceal all blemishes, but do your best to keep your foundation and cover-up light and airy.  A school girl shouldn't cake on the powder and liquid foundation.

First start by applying an eyelid primer.  Some good primers are Urban Decay Primer Potion, and Too Faced Shadow Insurance.  My personal favorite primer, and the one I used for this tutorial is Mary Kay Triple Eye Enhancer.  After you've applied your primer, apply a few strokes of NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk and blend in on your eyelid with your ring finger.  The reason you use your ring finger is because it applies the least amount of pressure.  It won't tug at your skin and give you premature wrinkles, as well as not press on your eye, or blood vessels, too harshly.  Also apply the eye pencil to the browbone, and blend in, as this will provide as your highlight.

After you've completed your prep for this look, take out a white, shimmery eyeshadow.  I used the white from my Essence palette in the shades XOXO.  You can get this palette at Ulta for very inexpensive.

Apply the white with a C-shaped brush (I got mine from E.L.F.) to your inner corner and blend outward onto the first half of the eye.

After this, apply the silvery color from the same palette all over the second and outer half of the eye.  This gives more depth and dimension to the eye than one  eyelid color would.

After this step is completed, you move onto the pop of blue, which makes Ravenclaw, well, Ravenclaw. (Cool fact-  the books actually state that the Ravenclaw house colors are blue and bronze, but the movie changed the colors to blue and silver). I took a bright blue color from my Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer Palette and applied it with a pencil brush into my outer V.  The outer V is the part of your eye right at the crease, continued down near the lower lash line, in of course, a V formation.  I blended it outward with a fluffy crease brush to get a softer effect.

After eyeshadow, comes eyeliner.  Using a waterproof pen eyeliner from E.L.F. I applied it to my upper lashline.  I used a pencil black eyeliner to line my tightline and waterline, or the part of your eyelid right above the part that the lashes sit on.

Now it's time for the cheeks and lips.  Keep your cheek color nice and flushed, without apply an enormous amount.  Like I said, dewey school girl.  I used a Rimmel London blush called "Tickle Me Pink". I kept the lips a pink color as well, with a cute, shimmery pink color called "Popsicle" from Bonnebell.

Apply your favorite volumizing mascara.  I applied first on the opposite side of my lashes.  This gives the effect of thicker, fuller, even fake, lashes.  Apply several coats.  I used Covergirl's Lashblast Luxe in Black Platinum.  This is by far my favorite mascara.  It has sparkles in it and it shimmers in the light.  It's a pick-me-up to any tired eye.

Have at it, girls!

Love,
Emilyann <3

A tribute to Cedric Diggory.

Today I'm going to be posting a quick makeup and hair thing that is inspired by Hufflepuff. Jo Rowling is the author of the Harry Potter series, and the school Hogwarts has four houses. Hufflepuff is one. :)

From Wikipedia:
"Hufflepuff values hard work, tolerance, loyalty, and fair play. The house mascot is the badger, and canary yellow and midnight black are its colors. The Head of this house is the Herbology teacher Pomona Sprout, and the house ghost is The Fat Friar. According to Rowling, Hufflepuff corresponds roughly to the element of earth. The founder of this house is Helga Hufflepuff."

Cedric Diggory was a perfect example of a genuine Hufflepuff. He was brave, loyal, played by the right rules, and above all, was a cutie. ;)
Er. I just realized the Edward in Twilight is the same person as Cedric in the Harry Potter movies.....but I'm not going to follow that through.

Back to what I was saying...
Black and Canary Yellow are Hufflepuff's colors, and unfortunately, I have no yellow eye-shadow, and literally no yellow clothes. SO. I struggled with this. But, I ended up using this headscarf which happens to wonderfully portray Hufflepuff's colors. It's thrifted. :)

As for my face, I used Burt's Bees lip balm, bronzer from ELF, some mineral blush, a light pink eyeshadow from ELF, Covergirl Lash Blast mascara, black eyeliner, and gold glitter eyeliner Hard Candy (in the spirit of Hufflepuff's colors!)
I'm a major potterhead. (You couldn't tell?? I mean. I've read the series 6 times. Literally.) And, to my great regret, I won't be going to the midnight showing tonight.
***STRANGLED SOBS***
ahem.
Hopefully, I'll be able to go tomorrow night.
So, on that cheery note, I leave you to fathom all your creative ideas!

Fangurling. Muggles: Keep Out.

So, I'm a ginormous fan of Harry Potter.  Total.  Fangurl.

AND I happen to reside in Belgium.  And in Belgium, Deathly Hallows Part 2 comes out before it comes out in the U.S.

Tonight, my friends, I'm going to watch the final installment to the Harry Potter film series.  I'm so excited I can't contain myself!

I'm sporting some Slytherin eye makeup for the event, since I'm more of a makeup expert than a costume expert.  :)

My eyebrows are the bane of my existence.  I can't tame them.

Happy Harry Potter-ing!  :)

Just Another Thing in the Medley of Them.

RIGHT. well. Prepare for like, a million pictures, and some things that inspire me. Have fun. ;) I hope to get an actual outfit post, and a hair tutorial on here...sometime. There are also a few of my favorite things, to follow the lead of the other girls.

Tubing..hehe. :)

This is like, THE only picture of me. I'm the one who has the camera, anyways!
My sister and her baby. :)
*THE* cutest shoes, ever.
I went to a Scottish Fiddle Competition, too.
The judge was just....awesome.
Film cameras are too much fun.
Reading the Harry Potter books again... :)

Every day I've been throwing open the windows in my bedroom and turning on this cd.
It's the perfect music to set my favorite mood and just makes my day better.
This is a picture of a light I got from IKEA...
It's so much fun to take bokeh pictures of it!
The other day I went fishing with my family. I usually don't go, but they dragged be aboard this time. My daddy's an OBSESSIVE fisherman. Obsessive.
Bonfires, fireworks, s'mores, sparklers, friends.
These past couple days have been so much fun. Even sitting with a crazy sunburn on my back...I'm enjoying myself. Blogging, watching a Harry Potter movie with my grandma...I'm so fortunate to have everything I'm blessed with. A country where the only thing stopping me from spreading Christ's Word to my friends is my own will. A family who loves me and wants me to spend time with them. There are just so many things to be grateful for, I can't even count them all. Heck. I feel blessed because our wifi is finally working.... ;) (My poor mum's spent hours on the phone trying to fix it.)

A few items I really love:
This bronzer in golden. I use it everyday. It's inexpensive, and perfect for that glowing look Emilyann mentioned in one of her posts!
I have a couple North Face jackets. They are really great quality, last forever, and are so adaptable.
Nikon cameras! Need I say more?

Favorites and a Giveaway!

Amanda just did a "favorite things" post, and I thought it would be great if all the DRD girls did one.  Consider it a challenge, ladies.

So, without further ado, these are a few things I've been loving lately.

~~~~~
EOS Lip Balm.  This stuff is amazingly moisturizing, and smells wonderful.  I use it every night before bed, and as a base for my lipsticks.  And, I'm a sucker for innovative packaging.
via
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer.  I wanted a foundation primer because I have dry skin that tends to make makeup look a bit cakey.  So I bought this, though it was a little pricey, and it makes a huge difference.  Not only does it make my skin smooth and even, but it makes my foundation look  dewy and it lasts all day long.  My mom loves it too!
via
Urban Decay Baked Bronzer.  This bronzer is great for the summer, and makes a wonderful all-over glow.  I use a stippling brush to contour a bit and then dust it over where my skin would naturally catch some sun, like the apples of my cheeks and the tip of my nose.  I'm very fair, and this is the perfect color.
via
*GIVEAWAY ALERT*  Sigma E25 Travel Brush.  Sigma Beauty sent me this travel blending eye brush to review, and I absolutely love it.  I think I actually prefer the travel size to a full size, because the shorter brush allows for excellent control.  I haven't had any hairs shed from it, and it blends out eyeshadows really well.  I take it with me everywhere, but I even use it when I'm not traveling.  To win one, leave a comment telling me your favorite summer beauty product.  You have to be a follower of this blog to qualify.  Giveaway closes July 10.  Good luck!
via
Too Faced Cosmetics also sent me a product to review.  They were very kind and easy to work with, and even threw in a handwritten note with my item.  They sent me the Romantic Eye Palette, and I love it!  It's perfect for beginners because it comes with cards that give you ideas on how to use each color, but it's also really fun for people who've been doing makeup for a while.  The shadows are very pigmented and blend-able, and the colors are gorgeous and very natural.
That's it for today!  I hope you enjoyed it.  I also want to go ahead and say that unless I say so, I bought the products myself, and any reviews I give you will be completely honest.  I wouldn't accept a product if I was being told to give a positive review; I genuinely want you to have a good idea of the product before you go out and spend good money one it.
Have a great day!
