Boho. Not to be confused with Hobo.

Over the summer, I've taken all of my brain space usually directed towards homework, and aimed it towards thinking about various and sundry absolutely non-school-related things.  One of these things has been my style.

I've never had a distinctly... describable mode of dress.  I've just worn what I like, and that's the end of it.  But I've started becoming more picky about what I wear, and certain things just strike me as more attractive than other pieces.  And I've finally learned how to describe my classification:

60's Bohemian.  I have a penchant for vintage and classic girly things, like cat-eye sunglasses and ballet flats and cigarette pants, but I am also drawn towards long, floaty things, head-scarves, and bold vintage jewelry.

Classifying my style has made shopping easier.  I no longer hem and haw over what I want to buy, wondering if it suits. I just ask myself if it at all fits under my little self-description, and act accordingly.

Hence, today's OOTD.

Jean Jacket ~ Old Navy (Slightly oversized is the bomb dot com.)
Maxi Dress ~ Steinmart
Shoes ~ Seem to be missing those.... :)
Headband ~ Either Icing or Claire's.  I'm forever confusing the two.
Cami ~ Old Navy (Camisoles are essential to most maxi dresses.)
Earrings ~  I know you can't see them.  I promise I'm wearing them.. big, dangly, silver circles.  From my mama.

I'm not actually wearing it today, but I had to show you.  My friend and I found these amazing necklaces for ONE EURO at an otherwise pricey store.  That's about two dollars, y'all.  Can I get a woop woop?  Or in this case... a "hoo, hoo."

Tea Dresses and Speculations

I know. I never post anything interesting. Just call me boring Beth. :)
The thing is, I don't really know that many interesting fashiony things to tell you! ( Shh! though thats a secret! ) Like, I couldn't begin to tell you how I did my hair for these is just sort of happened. And couldn't give a make-up tutorial because I wore the same as I always do with the exception of some bright coral lipstick. -LOVE- My outfit wasn't even all that spectacular either just flats and a floral sundress. But maybe that's the point of my contribution for the time being. That a outfit doesn't have to be perfect to look lovely. I know that I for one, and I bet others too, sometimes feel a little intimidated when I'm around people who always look perfectly put together right down to coordinating nail polish. I get the idea that if I'm not also as equally polished looking they'll somehow not like me as well. And then I get home and think how silly is that! My mother always tells me not to worry about whether my own shoelaces are tied because everyone else is too busy wondering if theirs are tied properly to notice. Isn't that wonderful? Now of course this doesn't mean literally don't tie your shoelaces. You should probably do that. I'm pretty sure its some kind of a safety regulation in some places. But the idea is that we spend all our time worrying about our own appearance and don't even think about the fact that everyone else spends their time doing the exact same thing! And really thats not even what we should be worrying about in the first place. The people who matter will love us no matter what we wear. Makes me wish I spend more time trying to think about how to act more graciously when I'm with others rather then spending it fretting about what I look like. I'd imagine this is an area we all could use some work in. :) All that rant to say: Your friends will love you even on bad hair days. I promise. In fact what's funny is that I find, that those days when I think I'm not "up to standard" will happen to be the days someone thinks to come up and remind me that they love my wavy hair or something trivial like that. Silly things. But it makes all the difference doesn't it? I try to do the same to others when I think they look especially fresh or pretty some day. Or even just wear something cute. I make a point to tell them. Because I know how much that means to me on a rough day. So I hope to return the favor. <3 <3 <3

Having said all that.... Don't you love my new sundress!?!?!?!?!? I got it just last week while shopping with my cousin from a little shop called Two Elle. The store was Alice in Wonderland themed right down to the dressing rooms which were called things like "Down the Rabbit Hole" or "Through the Looking Glass." That on its own would have had me sold. But there's more!!!! Not only is the shop completely adorable but they stock the most lovely vintage inspired clothing you could think of! I promptly laid claim to a beautiful rose printed sundress which reminds me of something I imagine fine British ladies wear to tea, and another navy floral printed shirtdress with a matching belt. Oh my goodness gracious lovely. These finds and the added fact that I happen to see TAYLOR SWIFT shopping across the street made the shopping excursion a complete success. :) :) :) :)

Two More Days!!! Oh the excitement of it!!!!

And this is what I wore for the last day of school. I love bright lipstick. And Wildflowers. And Picnik. And the fact that I will be seeing several of these lovely ladies in two days. Really. For Starters...Summer!

Hey, everyone, it's Emilyann!

It's about that time again when we're starting to pull out the shorts and tank tops, getting ready for the heat and the sunshine.  Along with summer comes a lot of things.  Summer trends, haircuts, and tans.  I'm going to be addressing in a short series all of what you need in your closet during the summer, how short to chop your hair or whether to chop at all, and how to get a healthy summer glow without too much damage to your skin and withOUT looking orange.  Let's get started!

Must Have For the Perfect Summer Wardrobe

(1) A flowy white skirt.  This goes with everything and automatically makes an outfit dressy and summery.

(2) Long, layered necklaces.  They go with everything and take a minimalist look to the next level.
(3) High waisted shorts.  They're SO in right now, and look great with flow-y tops.
(4) Offwhite rose studs.  Too cute, and absolutely everywhere you look.
(5) Color blocking.  This is the trend of the summer, a total flashback from the '80's that you see on the runway and in everyday wear.
(6) Clunky bangles.  They give a boho feel to any look.
(7) Maxi dresses and skirts.  Another boho flavor this summer. It doesn't look good on everyone, but if you have long legs and a minimally curvy figure, this should work.
(8) Denim button up tops.  They're cute to roll up, or leave open, or even tie in front.  If you choose to wear it in jeans, don't try to match denims.  A dark wash looks good with a middle to lighter wash.
(9) Gladiator sandals.  These were around last summer as well, but they're still very much a must-have in a summer wardrobe.
(10) Feather earrings.  The more colorful the better. Feathers anyway are very in.
(11) A turquoise ring.  These are adorable and add flair instantly.
(12) A white sundress.  You'll see these dresses in every store window, from New York & Co. to Vanity.
(13) A leather messenger bag.  Preferably with a shoulder AND hand strap.
(14) A pair of Ray-Bans.  Very hipster, and there are inexpensive dupes everywhere.
(15) Boyfriend jeans.  They look amazing with a nice pair of pumps, or even embellished flats.
(16) Nude heels. An essential for the female closet.
(17) A sun hat.  The floppy ones are the best.  They protect your skin, shield your face and look very sweet.
(18) Anything floral.  The more vintage feeling the better.
(19) - (20) Sperry's and TOM's.  They're equally as popular so take your pick! I personally love TOMs because every pair you purchase, a pair goes to a needy child in another country who doesn't have any shoes.  Awesomeness.
(21) Boyfriend blazer.  You can get these at thrift stores and vintage shops for CHEAP.  They look good over tank tops and band t-shirts, flowy dresses and rompers.  It's a safe bet that if your outfit seems to be lacking something, add the blazer and it could just spice up your look the way you want it to.
(22) An oversize clutch.  It's a bit impractical if you carry a lot of things in your purse, but for a night out, rather than an everyday purse, it's very cute.
(23) Wedges. These never go out of style and they're great gateway heels because they're pretty easy to walk in if you're not used to walking in pumps.

Summer Outfits

It's Caroline!

We're all craving the same thing right now.... our summer wardrobe!  So here are a few ideas you can be looking for when you go shopping, and to give you a bit of that summer thrill.  Plus, a few of these ideas will work for spring, too!  I used Polyvore to create my sets.

First look:  Summer Casual

This one is perfect for looking laid-back and still really stylish.  The slouchy skirt and slouchy shirt are slimmed down by a neutral belt, and we've added a matching bag and shoes.  Because this is a fairly neutral outfit, I'm adding a pop of color with the bib necklace, skirt, and pink lipstick.  And of course, aviator sunglasses are always cool.

Second Look:  Maxi dress, Maxi style

The maxi dress is great because it's perfect poolside, mall-side, and even for slightly more formal events! This particular outfit is great because it's casual, but you'll still look very well put-together.  The floppy hat is adorable and protects the skin, which is important, and the sunglasses will not only look cute, but they protect our eyes from harmful UV rays.  The rest is purely for looks. :)  But beware!  Maxi dresses with horizontal stripes will make you look wider.  I chose a simple black one.  And turquoise is a great color every year.  *Sniff....*  I can smell the chlorine already!  So bring your waterproof mascara... 

Our last look:  Formal

This is great for an event like church or dinner, where you may want to dress up a bit more.  You never want to wear bland colors in the summer, so I picked a fun, thin summer scarf to wear however you like, and a POP put in with a blue clutch.  The rest is simple, and may I say, every girl should have a few good pencil skirts and a pair of nude heels.
