Hello lovely people! It's Lillian. Today I'll be sharing an outfit with you.
It was one of those days where I actually slept well, and when my alarm clock went off, I really didn't want to get out of my bed. When I was pondering what to wear, I had a bit of a dilemma. I wanted to wear jeans, because jeans are comfy, but I didn't want to just wear jeans and a t-shirt because that's boring. I kind of wanted to wear a dress, but I didn't want to wear tights, and I just always like layers.
So as you can see, I just decided to wear it all. Jeans, shirt, dress, cardigan, and boots. It was a wonderful glasses-no-makeup-quiet-moments-laughter-taking-pictures-of-nothing kind of day.
What sort of outfit are you most comfortable in?
Happy Tuesday!

Inspired.
Hello to you all! A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I've been feeling especially creative lately. Which is great because I wouldn't classify myself as an artsy person per say. Thats part of why I love watching all the other girls on here and all the creative things to do with just makeup or a hairstyle! So I thought I'd try and be creative too. See how it works out. I've been planning on doing a haul video one of these days, but after seeing Caroline's adorable one I'm a little scared too. :P So I planned on retreating back to pictures to show you some of the things I got for Christmas. But then I thought, wheres the fun in that? I always do that.
Thats when I got inspired. I love looking at lookbooks. They're like magazines but so much better. Ruche always has the loveliest ones and some of those fancy-schmancy designers who I'll probably never get to wear but can still drool over generally have splendid ones as well. And sometimes they even have look films. I'm sure they're not really called that. Probably something much more official. But I don't know the term. So in my mind they're lookfilms. Anyway I decided to show you my new Christmas dress and coat in a lookfilm. Fancy right? So here's my first attempt. Before you make any judgments keep in mind I filmed this by my lonesome with an iPhone. Come to think of it I must have looked quite hilarious prancing about, balancing my phone on various trees and rocks to take a video... All this to say I hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed making it. <3
Oh and notice I tried do Caroline's french make-up tutorial in this as well! See I told you I was inspired.

Let the winter come. It is the only path to Spring.
Oh Hi! Remember me? We used to hang out alot but then I got busy.
And abandoned you. It wasn't for lack of affection, I promise. Senior year is just like one long ridiculous ride on those tea cup things at disney world. I.E. blogging gets pushed to the back of the list..... alot. But! I am here now so lets get started. Its December. Say what! Where did the year go? Thats about what I'm feeling like anyway. December however, has it perks. Christmas being the primary one of course. But besides that its also the perfect month to wear a velvet blazer. This one's my new obsession. It was a Christmas gift last year but the problem with receiving awesome wonderful wintery presents on Christmas is that (at least in TN) winter is half way over. So you have dream about wearing that lovely royal blue velvet jacket all year round until in finally gets cold and appropriate enough to wear it. Ladies the time has finally come. So I'm enjoying it to the fullest. And yes I do realize this entire post practically has been about my love affair with this jacket. I'm ok with that. Its worth it. But if it makes you feel any better I have a more insightful/informative post planned for next week. Plus I think its good to every now and then just delight in the little things that make us feel feminine. I call this my Dickens jacket because it reminds me of that time period... Is that weird?
Oh and my hair was doing its own thing today. I don't even want to talk about it. So I won't. Just enjoy the jacket. =)

The Season of Tights and Headbands
As most of the other girls on The Dressing Room Door, I too am in love with the season autumn. From the warm tones to the comfy sweaters and opaque tights, I am head over heels for fall. Let me show you what I mean.

I adore red. It's most definitely my favorite color to wear. Burgundy is even better. I've had this dress forever, and I just rediscovered it this morning while getting ready for church. Paired it with black tights, a belt, a crocheted headband, and boots that are who knows how old. I love the dress' capped sleeves and almost turtleneck collar.
The shoes are my latest love. They're vintage and absolutely amazing. They lace up through the ankles and have the witch-like pointed toe. I adore them. And if they weren't so uncomfortable I'd probably wear them with everything. Well. I'll probably end up wearing them with everything anyway.
Dress - Thrifted? Or gift, I can't remember
Belt - Kohl's
Tights - Target
Headband - Crocheted by my mother
Shoes - Vintage, via Goodwill
Nail polish - Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in the color 90, Brilliant Bordeaux
That's it for today, lovelies. I promise to have that last installment of Back to the Basics up in a few days. I've been drowning in papers and science experiments. So here's an OOTD to make sure you don't think I've fallen off the face of the planet. ;)
What's your favorite fall color? :)

They are very old, and the leather's cracked and the laces are frayed. But I think the vintageness makes me love them even more.

Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile.
Hey There!
Remember me! I'm Elizabeth, that chatterbox girl who hasn't posted since last spring? Yeah. That one. Don't worry though, I'm heartily ashamed of my long delay in posting and intend to start a new leaf. I'm going to keep up with all the other wonderful diligent girls on here and post once a week, how about that! (Unless I'm swamped with homework in which case you'll get another apology.) ;)
Anyway, Hello! Hi! How are you all! I hope you had as wonderful a summer as I did. Busy. But wonderful. However I'm exceedingly glad Autumn is finally showing its glorious face. Autumn is my favorite season. October is my favorite month. October 11 is my favorite day... Just kidding that last one's not true. But I do just really love Fall. All the fiery leaves cascading downward with every slight breeze, they look for all the world like heaven is raining down orange and yellow sprinkles, the crisp chilly mornings, pumpkin moonshines leering in the most cheerful way possible from every doorstep. An excuse to dress up and beg candy from people legally... Just kidding about that last one too. Sort of. But another reason I like fall is the fashion. I mean who doesn't, but I think I especially love it. I love felt hats and leather boots, brightly colored tights and school cardigans. Corduroy jackets, plaid wool skirts, that boyfriend blazer that was too hot to wear in summer, knee socks, more hats.... I like fall. Plus autumnal hues are always the ones that look best on me. So I can be biased right? So I've got a post on specific outfit ideas and color trends for Fall all lined up for you all, but its not quite ready yet. I figured I'd come back gradually with a simple post. Just my own interpretation of a classic autumn outfit. With my own personal flair of course. I.E. the hat. =)
Yes. I'm making up for lost time by taking up the entire home page with pictures. Just so you know the game plan.

I love burgundy. As you can probably tell. And its perfect for Fall! And while your still reading, can we talk about these shoes? Found them at the mall while "window" shopping with a friend for $35. I'm still reeling with the perfection of them. Just thought I'd let you know. :) I'm so happy to be back everyone. Its going to be a good year. Happy October!

I see London, I see France.... wait. No.
Last weekend, my parents took a trip to London! It was a glorious time, but I have to say, half the fun was getting dressed to go out!! Here are a couple of my outfits from our mini vacation.
This outfit was inspired by Kendi (my favorite fashion blogger). She wore this very same dress in this same way, but with a different top. I even tricked my own mom into thinking this was a high-waisted skirt, when in reality, it's a dress and a top pinned very carefully to the bodice.
Dress: shopruche.com
Shirt: Ross
Shoes: Target
Sunglasses: Random store I can't remember
Purse: A cute shop in Italy
Belt: H&M

| Chillin' with some chums. |
Top: H&M
Skirt: Piazza Italia
Scarf: A store called Tequila (and I promise, no alcohol was being sold/served there. Promise.)
Shoes: Target
And what's that in my hand? A TOPSHOP bag. I'm sure what I bought will be showing up in a later outfit post. :) I'm thrilled to bits.

| Foundation: BB Cream Blush: Mary Kay "Shy Blush" Bronzer: Urban Decay Baked Lipstick: Maybelline "Pink and Proper" Mascara (even though you can't see it): CoverGirl Lash Blast For my hair, I did the top half section in a fat twist, and then I fishtail braided the bottom half section off to one side. I pinned back my bangs because of the wind, and you can also see that the wind mussed the back a bit. But to be honest, I like it that way. :) |
I only have one decent photo of this one...
Shoes: Target
Dress: H&M
Belt: H&M
Coat: London Fog
Earrings: Icing
Swing Sweater: Target
Dress: Sears
I wore this dress out to go see Billy Elliot at the theatre. It was such a fun night! I wore a pair of nude heels and my London Fog coat with it, but neglected to photograph it. As you can see, throughout the whole trip, I maintained a 60's-ish vibe... this is something I've been very into lately, and I think you'll notice it in upcoming OOTDs.
Have a great day, everyone!

Tea Dresses and Speculations
I know. I never post anything interesting. Just call me boring Beth. :)
The thing is, I don't really know that many interesting fashiony things to tell you! ( Shh! though thats a secret! ) Like, I couldn't begin to tell you how I did my hair for these is just sort of happened. And couldn't give a make-up tutorial because I wore the same as I always do with the exception of some bright coral lipstick. -LOVE- My outfit wasn't even all that spectacular either just flats and a floral sundress. But maybe that's the point of my contribution for the time being. That a outfit doesn't have to be perfect to look lovely. I know that I for one, and I bet others too, sometimes feel a little intimidated when I'm around people who always look perfectly put together right down to coordinating nail polish. I get the idea that if I'm not also as equally polished looking they'll somehow not like me as well. And then I get home and think how silly is that! My mother always tells me not to worry about whether my own shoelaces are tied because everyone else is too busy wondering if theirs are tied properly to notice. Isn't that wonderful? Now of course this doesn't mean literally don't tie your shoelaces. You should probably do that. I'm pretty sure its some kind of a safety regulation in some places. But the idea is that we spend all our time worrying about our own appearance and don't even think about the fact that everyone else spends their time doing the exact same thing! And really thats not even what we should be worrying about in the first place. The people who matter will love us no matter what we wear. Makes me wish I spend more time trying to think about how to act more graciously when I'm with others rather then spending it fretting about what I look like. I'd imagine this is an area we all could use some work in. :) All that rant to say: Your friends will love you even on bad hair days. I promise. In fact what's funny is that I find, that those days when I think I'm not "up to standard" will happen to be the days someone thinks to come up and remind me that they love my wavy hair or something trivial like that. Silly things. But it makes all the difference doesn't it? I try to do the same to others when I think they look especially fresh or pretty some day. Or even just wear something cute. I make a point to tell them. Because I know how much that means to me on a rough day. So I hope to return the favor. <3 <3 <3
Having said all that.... Don't you love my new sundress!?!?!?!?!? I got it just last week while shopping with my cousin from a little shop called Two Elle. The store was Alice in Wonderland themed right down to the dressing rooms which were called things like "Down the Rabbit Hole" or "Through the Looking Glass." That on its own would have had me sold. But there's more!!!! Not only is the shop completely adorable but they stock the most lovely vintage inspired clothing you could think of! I promptly laid claim to a beautiful rose printed sundress which reminds me of something I imagine fine British ladies wear to tea, and another navy floral printed shirtdress with a matching belt. Oh my goodness gracious lovely. These finds and the added fact that I happen to see TAYLOR SWIFT shopping across the street made the shopping excursion a complete success. :) :) :) :)
So I took pictures yesterday and here they are. Hope you all are having a wonderful Summer so far!
